The Naked Truth

To tan naked or not to tan naked; that is the question!

I know that when it comes to the big naked debate, everyone is pretty equally divided, which is fine, no one way is better than the other.

If you choose to make the switch from conservative tanner to tanner in-the-buff, proceed with caution!  Never expose the new areas for the same amount of time that you do the old; gradually introduce them to tanning.  It's just like building a base tan, the process has to be done gradually in order to produce the best possible results.  My suggestion is keep the virgin areas covered until the last 2 minutes of your tanning session.  Over time, gradually increase the minutes the new area's are exposed, and soon enough they'll be as beautifully bronzed as the rest of your body.

And remember, be kind to your behind!

Weekly Tanning Tip!

Always always always protect your eyes!!!
I cannot stress enough how important wearing protective eye wear is while tanning.  Closing your eyes or wearing regular sunglasses will not adequately shield your eyes from any sort of damage.

Fear not, all Hollywood Tans Salons sell FDA compliant eye protection, like our cleverly designed, easy to transport, reusable "Podz", available at your local salon for less than six dollars.  And if you forget your "Podz", just ask for "Wink-Ease", little stickers that provide you great protection for less than a buck!

Tingle Lotions

Curious about what exactly a "Tingle" lotion is and why they're so popular?  Look no further!

In scientific terms the term "tingle" indicates the presence of benzyl or methyl nicotinate, an ingredient that increases the microcirculation in the epidermis, so that more oxygen is absorbed into your skin. Your skin needs oxygen in order to tan, so more oxygen means a darker tan.

Tingles are available in a variety of intensities, so you can choose what level best suits you.   And you don't have to use them all over; many of our customers use them just on their legs* or other areas that are more difficult to tan.

*Recommendation: Hollywood Tans "Darker Legs" Custom Bronzer, available with or without tingle!

Tingle's aren't for everyone however, and can be a little weird the first time you try them.  I recommend tingles for more experienced tanners or those with a strong base.  And if you have sensitive skin, you might want to stick with our tingle free lotions, like "Power Lunch", for a more enjoyable tanning experience!

America's Healthiest 10 "Vices" That Are Good For You

CNN just posted an awesome article, urging us to reconsider some of those "bad habits" we all can't seem to quit, including our dependence on that morning cup of joe and our innate urge to take a random day off every now and again.  But the best one was by far number 9:

"Pleasure No. 9: Basking in the sun: Bright days really do lift our moods -- sunshine is the ultimate natural antidepressant, triggering our bodies to nip production of the sleep-stimulating hormone melatonin so we're alert, energized, and ready to face the day. Exposing bare skin to the sun also triggers the synthesis of vitamin D, a hormone that may reduce your risks for cancer, heart disease, fragile bones, and other problems."

So tan on my friends!
